May 25, 2022 – As we head into the memorial day weekend, officials are reminding boaters of boat registration fees and asking boaters to take precautions to stay safe.
If it’s your first time out on the water this season, you should ensure the boat is in good shape with everything you need on board. This includes life jackets for everyone on board, a working horn, and a life preserver. Most importantly, don’t drink and boat. Last year in Illinois, 93 boating accidents were reported, resulting in 28 injuries and 16 deaths.
To make sure you are following the rules on Lake Decatur this weekend, review the list of boat regulations HERE.
