June 2, 2022- Dove, Inc. will host a dedication event where the Homeward Bound building, on 788 E. Clay St, in Decatur, IL, will be renamed the Ray Batman Center for Social Justice.
Ray Batman was Dove’s first employee when it opened in 1970, and was a leading force in the organization’s mission for over 30 years. He first served as a coordinator, with support from seven Christian churches. During his time with Dove, Batman served as executive director, twice. Batman retired from Dove in 2011. He passed away in 2021.
The event will take place on June 11th, at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend, and celebrate with Batman’s family, the Dove staff, board of directors, and volunteers.
