June 17, 2022- Members of the LGBTQIA+ community, allies, and supporters demonstrated outside the Macon County Courthouse to show support for a local hate crime victim.
Flags, signs, and posters were on full display as LGBTQIA+ musicians and speakers offered messages of inclusivity, representation, and unity amongst the community.
“I say our community because it is our community, organizer August Reed said. “The courthouse is our courthouse, these streets are our streets, and this town is our town.”
Leaders from various local organizations such as Decatur Pride, PFLAG, Decatur Socialist Association, and more offered first aid, hydration, and a poster making station.
