June 22, 2022 – The DeWitt County Suicide Prevention Workgroup is bringing attention to mental health stigmas with the Knocking Out Stigma Dodgeball Tournament on Friday, July 22 at 6:00 p.m.
Nearly 20% of Americans will experience a mental health challenge in their lifetime. However, fewer than half of those who experience a mental health challenge will seek treatment. Mental health challenges are treatable, and people with mental health challenges can and do live fulfilling, productive, and fulfilled lives.
The Knocking Out Stigma Dodgeball Tournament gives individuals an opportunity to connect and have fun together. TAT Taylor will be emceeing this tournament. Participants will have a fantastic time with gameplay (whether it’s playing or watching), food and music. The Workgroup wants to create a space in which we can have fun within the context of supporting our overall mental health wellness.
High school students and adults in Clinton and surrounding communities are invited to participate in this tournament.
Some potential teams may include: high school sports teams, co-workers, office staff, friends, and/or family members. They are looking for 24 teams. Teams need a minimum of six players and may have up to four additional alternate players. Team Captains are invited to complete the SurveyMonkey to register their teams.
Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winning teams. Everyone is invited to be part of the fun and watch the teams play. Free concessions will also be available.
During the tournament, they will have information about community resources that are available in DeWitt County. This is a great opportunity for individuals to discover the local organizations who support youth and families in our community. All players must complete the registration form which can be found on Heritage’s website – heritagenet.org
