June 30, 2022- The Decatur Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted its 12th annual Community Prayer Breakfast at the Decatur Conference Center.

The breakfast was sponsored by Neuhoff Communications, HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, Land of Lincoln Credit Union, Kevin & Sue Breheny Family, IPI Wealth Management Inc., and Carriage Crossing Senior Living.

Renowned CBS sports producer, Lance Barrow, was the special guest speaker. Barrow has been in the broadcasting industry for almost 50 years. He is an Emmy-winning producer of golf coverage, was the coordinating producer of THE NFL ON CBS, and was the lead game producer from 2004-2017 with the No. 1 NFL announce team of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms. Barrow has produced NFL Thursday Night Football games, 14 Super Bowls, and multiple Masters Tournaments.

The audience at the prayer breakfast was treated to a video clip from a ’60 Minutes’ feature highlighting Barrow and his team’s production of Superbowl 47.

In attendance at the breakfast were several community organizations such as Brass Horn, the Salvation Army, Richland Community College, Staley Credit Union, Decatur Earthmover Credit Union, Dove, and First Mid.

While Barrow is known for his skill in production, it is his treatment of his staff and all those he comes in contact with, that truly draws attention.

“What impressed me the most is how he treats his people, Kevin Breheny said. “He is a living testament of what it is like to be a Christian leader.”

Breheny got to know Barrow while volunteering with CBS, through the NFL CBS Experience. The NFL CBS Experience gives people an opportunity to raise money in their communities in order to volunteer as CBS crew members.

Barrow took the time at the prayer breakfast to not only express the importance of treating others how you wanted to be treated, but to also express the importance of putting the Christian value of forgiveness into action.

“In this day and age, if we just treat people the way that we want to be treated and how we want our families to be treated, and we be a little less demanding on people and how they do things, and just forgive people, I think the world would be a lot better place,” Barrow said. “It is a great example of what Jesus did with Peter to forgive him, and the ultimate forgiveness you can find anywhere.”
