July 28, 2022- The Salvation Army hosted its Pathway of Hope graduation, where eight families were honored for reaching their personal goals leading them to a path of self sufficiency.

Pathway of Hope is a program that aims to provide support for single parents by assisting them with shelter, rent, utilities, employment, education, and childcare.

The goal is that after nine months or so, participants in the program will have reached self-sufficiency or are close to achieving self-sufficiency. This will hopefully end the cycle of generational poverty.

At the graduation, some of the graduates spoke on the impact of the program and thanked their mentors for their support.

“I love what this program is doing, not just for me but for everyone who has come into contact and has just been able to support you,” Yae’l Yirsal said. “Even if it is just a kind word. Sometimes that’s what your heart needs. Before I step on up, without crying hopefully, Miss Andrea [Andrea Lewin
Pathway of Hope Director], I love you. You helped me and I owe it all to you. You are my friend and now you are my family.”
