August 13th, 2022- The ArtFarm hosted its third annual Punk on Park street festival at Central Park.
The ArtFarm is a retail store in downtown Decatur that promotes 91 local artists and their work. The store also offers First Friday gallery openings and art classes for community members. The store was opened in 2018.
“We basically just turned this store inside out, threw it out on the street, and just celebrate with the community for all the support that we have received over the years,” Peggy Baity, owner of the ArtFarm said.
Today’s event featured local bands, over 20 local artists, street vendors, and food trucks for people of all walks of life to enjoy.
“We have got a lot of diversity on the street, a lot of inclusivity, that is my main goal,” Baity said. “We are all getting along. Everybody is having a great time, today. There are toddlers, here. There are grandmas sitting in the shade. That’s what it’s all about.”
There seemed to be a good response from the community, as members enjoyed seeing so much local art in one place. Something they maybe don’t always have a chance to see
“I really like supporting local artists,” Decatur resident Madi Lourash said. “I love checking out some of the art that Decatur has to offer. It’s not super accessible all the time, so to have it all in one place where you can really check a whole bunch of people out and support little businesses like that, I really enjoy that.”
