Blood Drive Planned in Honor of Shoni Anderson

Aug 15, 2022 | 11:51 AM

August 15, 2022 – Shoni Anderson is a local 6-year-old who has battled leukemia, since being diagnosed in February 2021. She has received blood products several times throughout her treatments and likely will require additional blood transfusions.

Shoni’s family is hosting a blood drive in her honor Wednesday, August 17 at Passion Community Church in Decatur, and you are encouraged to come out and roll up a sleeve to give blood for all individuals who rely on blood donations. The drive will be from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. As a staple on the sidelines of Mt. Zion sporting events, it’s time to cheer on Shoniin her battle with cancer, by donating blood!

By making an appointment to help save lives with the American Red Cross in August, donors can pump up the blood supply and keep it from falling to shortage levels. All presenting donors will receive a $10 e-gift card and a chance to win gas for a year (a $6,000 value!)

Make an appointment by visiting redcrossblood.org, calling 800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767) or by using the Red Cross Blood Donor App. All Red Cross blood drive and donation centers follow the highest standards of safety and infection control.
