September 8, 2022 – The African American Cultural & Genealogical Society is hosting a fundraiser in order to make the museum handicap accessible.
The “Still, I Rise” capital campaign fundraiser is accepting donations on the AACGS website here, or one can send or deliver checks to the following address: AACGS – P.O. Box 25251 – Decatur, Illinois 62525.
The museum is full of memorabilia and other preserved artifacts that tell the story of African Americans and those involved in the effort for equality. However, the museum has slim hallways and an especially slim staircase that leads to a majority of the items. This fundraiser will help to find other ways to include everybody in tours and walk-throughs.
