September 10, 2025- The Hampton Inn in Mt. Zion will host its 6th annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb to honor the lives lost and lives impacted by the events of September 11th.
The event was started in 2020 when the hotel had several firefighters working at the hotel. The event involves climbing to the fourth floor of the hotel 28 times in order to reach 110 flights of stairs representing the 2071 steps in the World Trade Center.
There will also be a memorial Flag Garden, and a honor ride of Emergency Vehicles. Partipants also carry a photo on a lanyard of a first responder who died on 9/11 in order to honor their memory.
The 2025 event is scheduled for Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
There will also be a 9/11 Memorial Ride that will begin at Coziahr Harley Davidson at 6pm. The ride will be escorted by police to the 9/11 Stair Climb at Hampton Inn, and then onto the Decatur 9/11 Memorial along Lake Decatur.
