October 26, 2022 – The Richland Community College Foundation is collaborating with The Ripple Foundation to create a $1,000 scholarship to provide supplies for students taking automotive courses.
Students who receive the scholarship will be given the funds to buy tools as they study to work in the automotive industry.
Wade Ripple, the founder of The Ripple Foundation, is creating this scholarship in memory of his father, Christopher David Ripple. Chris worked in the automotive trade for 30 years. On Thanksgiving evening in 2020 – at the age of 48 – he was killed by a drunk driver on his way home from family dinner. He would have turned 50 years old today. The Ripple Foundation was created in his memory, and this scholarship will spread his spirit even further across the community.
“My dad was a loving and compassionate man,” Wade said. “I want to keep his spirit alive and help anyone interested in pursuing an automotive career.”
Both Richland and The Ripple Foundation hope to increase the dollar amount of the scholarship in the years to come. If any person or business entities wish to get involved, they can donate on the Richland Foundation’s website (click here). Please indicate that the gift is in honor of Chris Ripple.
