Dave Chappelle Speaks On Kanye West & Kyrie Irving Controversies

By Music News Nov 13, 2022 | 6:00 PM

During his opening monologue on Saturday Night Live on Saturday night (November 12th), Dave Chappelle spoke on the controversies surrounding Kanye West and Kyrie Irving. He began his monologue, saying, “I denounce antisemitism in all its forms, and I stand with my friends in the Jewish community.” He then jokingly added: “And that, Kanye, is how you buy yourself some time.”

Chappelle recalled when Ye took to Twitter saying that he was going to go “death con 3” on Jewish people. Chappelle said he usually is there for Ye but said, “You know what? Let me see what happens first,” adding, “I was up all night worried, 'What is he going to do to the Jews?'”

Chappelle continued, saying, “When he woke up, he went on Drink Champs, again. This time, he was mad about something. He said, 'I can say anti-Semitic things, and they can't drop me. Now what?' Adidas dropped that n*gga, immediately.” He continued, “Ironically, Adidas was founded by Nazis and they were offended. I guess the student surpassed the teachers.”

On Irving, Chappelle said, “Kanye got in so much trouble Kyrie got in trouble. Kyrie Irving posted a link of to a movie he seen on Amazon. No caption on the post or nothing like that, but apparently this movie had Anti-Semitic tropes…and the NBA told him he should apologize and he was slow to apologize. The list of demands to get back into their good graces got longer and longer and this is where I draw the line. I know the Jewish people have been through terrible things all over the world, but you can’t blame that on Black Americans.”

YE: 'I CAN SAY WHATEVER I WANT AND NOT GO TO JAIL

Meanwhile, paparazzi ran into Kanye West and he had a lot to say. He said, “I can say whatever I want and not go to jail. They can’t control me, you get what I’m saying? They can control Shaq…they can control Charles Barkley…they can control LeBron James..they can control Jay-z and Beyonce—but they can’t control me. You see it ain’t no name I won’t name. It’s up!”

Ye also spoke on Minister Farrakhan, who mentioned him during a recent address. He explained, “And Minister Farrakhan, I love you but the way you read that, I took that as a slight …— I don’t take no disrespect from nobody… I don’t care who you are. God is the only person I serve.”

He also told the paparazzi, “My momma ain’t here, my momma was sacrificed. You can’t send none of ya’ll Meek Mills, y’all Puffys, y’all Lil Boosies…none of these name. None of these people that have to listen to y’all … I never killed nobody. I’m the pu**y that never killed nobody. But that means I can say whatever I want.”
