November 17, 2022 – Around 60 ADM employees volunteered at Northeast Community Fund to prepare Thanksgiving baskets for those in need.
The initiative was part of ADM Cares and Northeast Community Fund’s volunteer engagement and was the largest volunteer presence ADM has had with the organization. Jaylyn Harris, ADM Customer Support Supervisor and NECF Ambassador said she put the call out for volunteers and the team stepped up. “We have volunteers from Global Operations, leadership, and customer support here to help out. I wasn’t surprised one bit that we had so many people volunteer. We have so many employees that are willing to be out in the community and ADM supports us.”
Angel Lawrence, Executive Director of Northeast Community Fund says the effort by the ADM employees is tremendous. “We are so thankful for ADM and their employees. Without ADM, as well as our volunteers from Baby Talk, First Mid Bank and Trust, Tate & Lyle, Empowerment Opportunity Center, and Crossing Healthcare, this wouldn’t be possible.”
The Northeast Community Fund Annual Thanksgiving Food program hopes to fill 4000 boxes if funding allows. Each box is filled with items for Thanksgiving meals, such as instant mashed potatoes, stuffing, carrots, a dessert, and meat (ham or turkey). In addition, Lawrence said they give enhanced boxes that include sweets and additional produce.
Lawrence said that things have been harder for families, but also for their organization with the cost of food rising. “It used to cost about $40 per box, but now it’s costing closer to $60.” Lawrence said that the organization is still seeking donations. You can donate by clicking HERE.
