November 21, 2022- Seventh grade students at Dennis Lab School took time out of the school day to put together boxes of food for local veterans for Thanksgiving.
Over the last month, the students have raised more than $500, and they have collected nearly 200 pounds of food.
Jenna Holman, a seventh grade student at Dennis Lab School was eager to participate in this project because she and her classmates wanted to show that they were thankful for veterans who served this country for them.
“We just want to let them know, thank you for serving for us and we appreciate them for what they did for us,” Holman said. “Sometimes people struggle in life, so we want to help them with food.”
Holman is hopeful that the boxes will bring the veterans joy.
“I really hope that they feel happy and are really thankful, because they served for us and helped our country,” Holman said.
After assembling the boxes, the group of students delivered the boxes to local area veterans’ associations.
