Yesterday (December 13th), Megan Thee Stallion took the stand in the Tory Lanez assault trial. As previously reported, Tory Lanez has been accused of shooting at Megan Thee Stallion, wounding her in both feet after shouting “Dance, b*tch” back in July 2020. He was initially charged with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic weapon and carrying a loaded, unregistered weapon inside a moving vehicle. The Canadian rapper has since been hit with a third felony charge in connection to the shooting for allegedly using a firearm negligently.
According to The LA Times, when Megan took the stand, she was asked if she was nervous. She said, “I just don’t feel good. I can’t believe I have to come in here and do this.”
Megan testified that that after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner's house with Tory, former best friend Kelsey Harris and Tory's bodyguard, an argument ensued. Megan said that Tory was upset about being asked to leave the party and told Megan that she needed to “stop lying” to Harris about their relationship.
Megan admitted that she and Tory occasionally had a sexual relationship and Harris, who had a “crush” on Tory, had just found out.
An argument ensued and Tory called both Megan and Harris “b*tches and h*es.” Then, the argument turned to Tory and Megan's careers and at that point, Megan was asked to leave the vehicle. As she left, she said Tory fired several shots at her, shouting “dance b*tch!” And least one bullet struck her feet.
Megan testified, “I’m in shock. I’m scared. I hear the gun going off and I can’t believe he’s shooting at me.”
MEGAN SAYS TORY OFFERED $1 MILLION TO BOTH WOMEN IF THEY PROMISED NOT TO TELL THE POLICE ABOUT THE SHOOTING
She said that she got back in the car and they drove as she tried to stop the bleeding. Megan said that Tory promised the women $1 million each if they promised not to tell the police because he was already on probation.
Minutes later, the car was pulled over by cops on Hollywood Boulevard. Jurors saw body camera footage in which police ordered all four occupants out of the car and onto the ground before detaining them.
Megan told the court that she didn't initially report the shooting because she didn't trust the police and feared for Tory's life. She explained, “At the time, we are at the height of police brutality. I felt like if I said ‘this man has just shot me,’ they might shoot first and ask questions later.” She added, “I don’t feel safe in the car. I don’t feel safe with the police officers either.”
Tory reportedly didn't look Megan in the eye in the courtroom, instead taking notes through her testimony.
MEGAN THEE STALLION SAYS SHE DIDN'T SEE KELSEY WITH THE GUN
During the second half of her testimony, Megan got emotional talking about the aftermath of the alleged incident, saying that speaking out against Tory has put a target on her back in a male dominated rap industry. She said, “I wish he would've just killed me if I knew I'd have to go through this.” She also said that she never saw her former friend Kelsey with the gun. Harris is expected to take the stand later this week.
Meanwhile, Tory arrived to court with his son, telling cameras that his son is his support system and that he was his.
