January 24, 2023 – The Macon County Conservation Foundation is holding the third annual 5K fundraiser on Saturday, May 20. Support natural areas and wildlife by running or walking in the Rock Springs Ramble 5K, 1-mile Fun Run/Walk, and kids’ fun run as well as a virtual option for both the 5K and the 1-mile.
This fundraiser supports the Macon County Conservation Foundation: a non-profit organization that funds natural area restoration and educational programs at the Macon County Conservation District and Rock Springs Nature Center. All proceeds support natural areas and wildlife in Macon County, Illinois. You can learn more about the Conservation Foundation at MaconCountyConservationFoundation.org
Healthy natural areas are vital to our community. They ensure we have clean air and water, space for wildlife, and are part of our community’s way of life: offering hiking, fishing, wildlife viewing, and many other forms of outdoor recreation.
By registering to run or walk, you support these natural areas and their wildlife. Those registered for the 5K will receive a finisher’s medal, t-shirt, and a tote bag. Hand-painted wildlife rocks (created by local artist Sheryl Polley) will be awarded to top 5K finishers in each age group. Children registered for the Kids’ Fun Run will receive a tree cookie medal and a nature book.
All registrants will also receive a meal and a drink from the post-race bloody mary and mimosa bar, provided by Door 4 Brewing Co., as part of their race registration. Additional drinks will be available for purchase.
Race packets and race swag will be available beginning May 19. Post-race, registered participants may pick up their items at their convenience from inside Rock Springs Nature Center, any time during the Nature Center’s regular hours.
Registration is $35 for the in-person and the virtual 5K Run/Walk, 1-mile Fun Run/Walk, and $10 for the Kids’ Fun Run. Online and race day registration available.
Register online at RunSignup.com/RockSpringsRamble by noon on Friday, May 19 or on MaconCountyConservation.org.
