March 15, 2023 – Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe was recognized by Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza during a ceremony in her Springfield office in celebration of Women’s History Month.
Moore has been elected twice to the City Council, prior to assuming the role of Mayor in 2015. She is the immediate Past President of the Illinois Municipal League and currently serves on the IML Board.
In addition to Moore, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Olympic Legend and Philanthropist, Founder & CEO of Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation was also honored. Along with Brenda Elder, Economic Development Director Shelby County, Jan Williams, Founder of The James Project, Springfield, and Karrie Redeker, Head Coach, Illinois Central College Women’s Basketball.
