March 21, 2023 – It’s DPS College & Career Week and Decatur schools have planned a slate of events to introduce students to educational opportunities and careers after high school.
The goal of this week-long series of events is to get students at every level exposed to and excited about post-graduation opportunities.
On Monday,DPS middle and high school students visited elementary schools to talk with younger students about the future. Tuesday was an opportunity for DPS alumni to visit their former schools to talk with students. DPS also hosted a Teacher Ready signing day, where program participants signed contracts, learned more about the program, and talked with reps from Huron Studer Education.
Wednesday is “Dress for Your Dreams Day” as students are encouraged to dress up like their future desired profession. On Thursday, DPS61 will host a Career Day Career and Military Day, with guest speakers from different professions and the EHS recruitment Fair for local employers offering part-time, summer, and full-time jobs.
To wrap up the week on Friday, DPS will host College Madness. Guest speakers from colleges and universities will be on hand and students are encouraged to dress in their favorite college gear. DPS will also host the MHS Career Fair for local employers.
