March 23, 2023 – It was another strong performance for FIRST Tech Challenge Team #14204, Super SCREAM Bros, at the Illinois State Championships. This Macon County 4-H club robotics team will again represent 4-H at FIRST World Championship in Houston, Texas.

FTC Team Super SCREAM Bros.’s robot performed exceptionally and was undefeated in the qualification matches, leading to the team’s highest-scoring match for this robotics season and securing a spot in the alliance matches.

“I feel autonomous ran really well with all the work we put into it. My favorite part at state was seeing all the teams and competing with them,” says team member Owen Rexshell.

But, robot performance is only part of the competition. Super SCREAM Bros also received the Motivate award, which recognizes the team who makes great efforts to share the message of FIRST throughout schools and the community. However, the judges also awarded the team second place INSPIRE, which advanced them to the World Competition.

“This year, we are preparing for World’s by reaching out to our community- looking for sponsorships and donations- to fund our adventure to World’s, says Elizabeth, FTC team member. “But we are also working on the robot by making some small tweaks and working on our programming.

The 2023 FIRST Championship will be from April 19 through April 22 in Houston, Texas. More than 40 countries will be represented at this international event which is the culmination of the youth robotics season.

“I’m looking forward to World’s and interacting with the other teams and seeing how they solved the challenge this season,” says team member Noah Suckow.
