
May 23, 2023 – The Decatur Public Library is hosting it’s Summer Reading Kick-off on Saturday, June 3rd. The event’s goal is to promote not only Summer Reading at the library but also many of the other opportunities in town for summer activities.
The Kick-Off will be Saturday, June 3rd from 11a-2p in the library’s green-space.
The event will have a Decatur Fire Truck on-site, “swag” bags to those in attendance, games for the kids and organizations on hand with information such as Baby Talk, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Boy Scouts, Children’s Museum of Illinois, The DISC, Girl Scouts, 4H, Community Environmental Council, Illinois Master Gardeners, Macon County Conservation District, CASA, Pawprint Ministries, Scovill Zoo and more.
The Library will also be registering kids for summer reading challenges. Families can also participate in drawings and challenges to win Cardinals tickets, a Children’s Museum Family Pass, Gift Certificates to Novel Ideas, Summer Fun Set(s) and a Gift Certificate for Decatur Park District.
