June 19, 2023 – If you have old tires in your yard, garage or on your property, mark your calendar for June 22nd.

The Macon County Health Department, Macon Mosquito Abatement District, and Macon County Environmental Management will be partnering to hold a tire drive for Macon County on Thursday, June 22nd from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Tires can quickly become prime breeding grounds for mosquitos. The organizations will be working to eliminate some of the barriers associated with tire disposal to decrease mosquito-borne infections and illnesses.

The tire drive will be collecting rimless passenger tires for Macon County residents. Proof of residency will need to be provided. Up to 10 tires will be accepted per residence. No lawnmower tires, semi-truck tires, tractor tires, or tires from local tire shops will be accepted at this event.

Tires will be collected at the Macon Mosquito Abatement District office at 3755 Cundiff Rd., Decatur, IL.
