June 6, 2023 – Registration is now open for the Decatur Leadership Institute, presented by the Decatur Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber of Commerce describes the Decatur Leadership Institute as a community-wide effort to ensure high-quality citizen leadership to meet the present and future challenges that face the Decatur area. “The program fills the need experienced by many communities for active involvement of informed and dedicated citizens in leadership roles throughout the community.”
The Decatur Leadership Institute (DLI) has existed since 1985 and the list of past graduates includes community leaders who now serve on various boards, commissions, and committees throughout the Decatur and Macon County area.
“DLI offers a unique and intimate way to get acclimated and/or reacclimated in my case, to your city. In my opinion, it goes beyond just the awesome networking opportunities and the great things the city of Decatur has to offer. It challenges each participant to hold themselves accountable for how they plan to impact positive change every day in the community. In a nutshell, if you want to be a true leader in this community and share ideas on how you are repping the city of Decatur, then DLI is definitely for you!” said Johnette Mitchell, of First Mid Bank & Trust and DLI Class of 2022.
Program participants attend 14 once-a-week sessions, typically on Thursday mornings from 6:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., where they experience on-site learning. The program also entails group-based service learning projects and concludes with a graduation ceremony in December.
The deadline to register is July 8th and the cost is $650 per person for members and $850 for non-members.
