Celebration on the Sangamon to be held at Lincoln Trail Homestead Park Saturday

June 8, 2023 – This year’s Celebration on the Sangamon will be held at the Lincoln Trail Homestead State Park & Memorial this Saturday from 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Portions of the event are sponsored by the Macon County Conservation District, and events will occur from the late morning into the afternoon, including Celtic music by Joe Readnour throughout the day. A full event schedule is below; the Adventure Float has limited spaces available.

9 a.m. – noon: Adventure Float, sponsored by Macon County Conservation District
11 a.m.: Native Garden and cemetery walk
Noon: Weiner roast, with food, drinks and table service provided
12:45 p.m.: Mimi’s Frosty ice cream truck available
1:30 p.m.: Decatur historian Mark Sorensen presents “Lynching of Sam Bush in Decatur”

The park is located about ten miles west of Decatur. Take Old Route 36 past Harristown to Lincoln Memorial Parkway, go south four miles, and the park is on the east side of the road.
