June 14, 2023 – Regan Deering joined Byers & Co. Wednesday morning to announce her candidacy as a representative for the Illinois House’s 88th district.
“I have a lifetime of service, so I really enjoy people,” Deering said on the program. “The 88th seat is another opportunity for me to take my common-sense, conservative fight to Springfield.”
Illinois’ 88th House District includes portions of Macon, McLean, DeWitt, and Piatt Counties. It is currently represented by Rep. Dan Caulkins, who is not seeking re-election due to his term limit. Caulkins joined Deering at a series of press conferences on Wednesday announcing her run across the district.
Deering could face the current 105th district representative, Dan Brady, in a primary, according to a recent statement. Although Brady currently represents the 105th district, redistricting means he may run in the 88th district. However, he has also been considering running for the U.S. Congressional seat in Illinois’ 17th district.
“Over the next few weeks, I will be meeting and discussing with voters, donors, and my family the options I have to serve the public once again,” Brady said in a statement. “I look forward to making my decision soon regarding where I can offer my service to do the greatest good.”
