June 14, 2023 – Village of Forsyth organizers are gearing up for this year’s Forsyth Fest, this Friday and Saturday, June 16 and 17, in Forsyth Park.

The festivities, which are free and open to the public, will kick off Friday at 5 p.m. Over 30 vendors, food trucks and inflatables will be available throughout the weekend. A beer garden with various local breweries on tap will be open both days from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Live music will be on-site—Smooth Times Band on Friday and Pizzazz on Saturday—from 6-9pm each night.

The event has grown and changed throughout the years from its humble beginnings in 1987. Village Administrator Jill Applebee said nowadays it takes much more planning to get prepared.

“All throughout the year we get ready for it. We gather vendors, entertainment, as well as getting fireworks ready,” Applebee said. “There is a lot that goes into it to make these days really special.”

On Saturday morning, registration begins at 7 a.m. for the 5K and 1-mile fun run, and racers will start at 7:45 a.m. The parade will kick off at 10 a.m. from Weaver Road and Commerce Place—near McAlister’s Deli—and will end outside Forsyth Park. Festivalgoers are encouraged to participate in cornhole and pickleball tournaments, starting at noon and 12:30 p.m. respectively, with registration for each beginning the hour before. There will also be a dunk tank, bingo, a traditional cake walk and an electric bull-riding competition.

The weekend will conclude with a fireworks show at dusk on Saturday around 9:15 p.m. For a full schedule of events and real-time updates throughout the festival, visit the Village of Forsyth’s Facebook page.
