June 17th, 2023 – Decatur Rotary Club #180 hosted their first-ever Rotary Fest this weekend at the Door 4 Brewery that featured “The Wurst Corn hole Tournament Ever.”

The event was the group’s first large fundraiser to expand their community grant program in which they award financial grants to nonprofits in the community.

The bags tournament had divisions for novice and pro players alike and was in collaboration with The OutLaw Baggers organization. The top three pro teams received a 50% cash payout and the top novice team won $100. The event also included grilled lunches for purchase, live music from area band Pizzazz, yard games, custom screen-printing, a cash bar, and a reverse raffle with several prizes available.

Julie Billbrey, Rotary member and event chair, said the event also gave the group an opportunity to highlight the benefits of being a member of Rotary. “It’s just a really good opportunity,” said Billbrey. “For professionals, for retired professionals, or in the trenches professionals. To just have an opportunity to connect with other professionals, other community members, and gives them an avenue to give back to the community.”

Billbrey said with the success of this year’s event, Rotary 180 plans to make Rotary Fest an annual event.
