June 20, 2023 – The Community Foundation of Macon County is taking its division of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library on the road this summer.

CFMC will host a variety of pop-up events at libraries across Macon County in the coming weeks to register children for the Macon County Imagination Library. Staff will be on-site to assist with the registration process, and children who enroll at a participating event will get to take their first book home that day. Through the program, registered children are mailed a free book monthly from their birth until age 5, and over 2,500 area preschool-aged kids are already registered.

“We continue to be committed to supporting early literacy in our community by getting books into the hands of children who may not have easy access to them,” said Natalie Beck, The Community Foundation of Macon County’s President. “We are excited to partner with United Way of Decatur & Mid-Illinois on this powerful literacy program.”

The events are as follows. More dates will be announced soon.

  • June 21, 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Blue Mound Public Library
  • June 28, 12:30-1:30 p.m. at South Macon Public Library
  • July 5, 10-11 a.m. at Decatur Public Library
  • July 19, 2-3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Public Library
  • July 20, 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Oreana Public Library
