
June 21, 2023 – Empowerment Opportunity Center has announced they will be awarding Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) Scholarships to 3 Macon County residents for the 2023-2024 school year.
To be eligible for a CSBG scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
· Be a resident of Macon County
· Be at or below 200% of the 2023 Federal Poverty Guidelines
· Be enrolled in or applying to an Illinois post-secondary educational/vocational school, post-secondary educational/vocational college, or vocational institute but have NOT already completed a bachelor’s degree.
· Be a full- time student.
· Must have a 2.5 GPA
Application Packets can be picked up at the Empowerment Opportunity Center, 360 E. Marietta St Decatur, prior to making an appointment. Applications will be accepted by appointment only.
Past recipients are eligible to reapply for a maximum of 4 years. Scholarships are distributed only once annually. Resources are limited and all applicants will be screened according to need and past academic achievement. The scholarships awarded will assist with educational costs, but not provide for the entire amount needed. All decisions made by the agency’s board are final.
The CSBG Scholarship Program is provided by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, through the Community Services Block Grant.
All application packets and materials are due by 4:30 pm on Monday, July 17, 2023, to the Empowerment Opportunity Center.
