June 21, 2023 – In partnership with Waste Management, the City of Decatur will host a free city-wide cleanup as part of its neighborhood revitalization initiative.
From 8 a.m. to noon on July 8, Decatur residents can dispose of large items for no charge in the Decatur Civic Center’s parking lot. Items such as old furniture, mattresses and household items can be placed in the roll-off bins that will be located throughout the parking lot. Residents will have to unload the items themselves—no assistance will be available to move waste from vehicles to the bins.
A limited amount of tires, electronics, appliances, computers and monitors will be accepted from each vehicle. No paint or yard waste will be allowed. All individuals participating in the drop-off must have proof of Decatur residency.
July 8’s cleanup and others hosted by the City are part of its Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative, which the City said aims to “reinvigorate and improve neighborhoods.”
