June 29, 2023 – Tickets are now on sale for “NUTCRACKER! Magic Christmas Ballet” at Millikin University a one-night-only performance at Kirkland Fine Arts Center last in Decatur in 2019.

The ballet is now in its 31st year touring the United States and is led by two Ukrainian principal artists, Prima Ballerina Karyna Shatkovskaya and Olena Pecheniuk. An international cast of puppeteers and crew members hailing from Japan, Turkey, the Czech Republic, South Africa and more bring the Christmas season alive onstage through the story of a young girl who dreams of a Nutcracker Prince and a battle against the Mouse King. Tickets are now being sold through the Kirkland Box Office for the December 11 performance at 7 p.m. and will be available until sold out.

First performed in Russia in 1892, its 1954 expansion to the New York City stage allowed American audiences to enjoy annual stagings nationwide for decades. Set in a Victorian capital, the production weaves together beauty, human athleticism and magical delights to create a show that families hold as part of their Christmas traditions.

Tickets are available in various tiers, ranging from $30 to $175 with a 15% processing fee. Of the tickets available, those classified as “Platinum” (first row) or “Gold Circle” feature special benefits, including a tree ornament, collectible book or pre-show Q&A with show artists, depending on their classification.
