July 5, 2023 – The Decatur Civic Leadership Institute, in collaboration with the City of Decatur and J Morris Enterprises, will hold a showing of “Borrowed Future,” a documentary about the danger of student loans, this Saturday, July 8 from 9-11 a.m. at the Decatur Civic Center.
According to the Education Data Initiative, 43.6 million Americans have student loan debt, and 92.6% of the $1.644 trillion federal loan balance is made up of student loans. The average public university student borrows $25,969 to attain a bachelor’s degree, the Initiative says. The showing will illuminate these truths about student loans and more and aims to impact aspiring college students and their families, DCLI said.
The film, written and directed by Dave Ramsey, held top spots on multiple streaming platforms when it was released, and DCLI looks to bring it to the Decatur community. The program’s students were asked to invite fellow athletes, churchmates and other organizations to the viewing. The public is invited to attend.
