July 5, 2023 – The City of Decatur, in partnership with Waste Management, will host a city-wide cleanup for large items this weekend and offer assistance in clearing debris from last week’s storm.

Decatur residents can dispose of old furniture, mattresses, household items and more for free on Saturday, July 8 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Decatur Civic Center’s parking lot. A limited number of tires, electronics, appliances, computers and monitors will be accepted from each vehicle, and no paint or yard waste will be allowed. Residents will unload items into roll-off bins and must show proof of residency.

Additionally, after last week’s storms, the City will pick up any downed tree limbs brought to the curb before Monday, July 10. Greenery should not be longer than six feet, and no other debris will be collected, including building materials. If any unapproved items are on the tree limb pile, none of the debris will be picked up.

The City’s cleanups are part of its neighborhood revitalization initiative.
