Macon County Conservation District to host July events for all ages

July 5, 2023 – The Macon County Conservation District will host several events for nature lovers to enjoy throughout July.

Between tour programs, free music performances and historic site tours, events will be held for residents of all ages. Decatur’s Oglesby Mansion will be open from 2-4 p.m. each Wednesday and Saturday as well as the last Sunday of each month for tours. The Homestead Prairie Farm, each Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m., and Bethel School, July 1 and August 5 from 1-4 p.m, will be open for historical tours as well. Admission to Oglesby open houses is $2, and other open houses are free.

Live performances by area bands will be hosted at Rock Springs Conservation Area as well. The Dulcimer Club will perform Saturday, July 8 and 22 from 10 a.m.–noon and Acoustic Music Jam will play on Sunday, July 9 from 2-4 p.m. Other concerts will be held later in the month.

An evening hike, on Saturday, July 22 at 9 p.m., and a chance to learn about monarch butterflies, Saturday, July 29 at 2 p.m., will also be held at Rock Springs. A vintage baseball tournament against a McLean County team will be played later in the month.
