July 5, 2023 – J. Mark Munoz, a business professor at Millikin University, finished as the runner-up for this year’s Male Entrepreneurial Leader of the Year, an award sponsored by the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities, and won in the People’s Choice category.

Awarded at the Triple E Awards in Barcelona, Spain last week, Munoz was joined by other finalists from the University of Calgary, the University of Cincinnati, and other educational institutions internationally. The award annually recognizes outstanding leadership in developing a university’s entrepreneurial profile.

“I am extremely honored to take second place based on the judges’ rating and first place based on community voting in my award category,” Munoz said. “I am very grateful for the support of the Millikin community – the administration, faculty, students and alumni.”

The Millikin community supported Munoz’s bid for Entrepreneurial Leader, and their support helped him win the People’s Choice award, an honor voted on at the competition.

“It was truly heartwarming,” Munoz said. “I am delighted that so many voted and that many people believed my work on minority entrepreneurship, technology and business, and projects relating to global citizenship are meaningful and relevant.”

Aside from his work with the university, Munoz has published over 25 books across disparate topics. His research focuses on disruptive technologies in international business, technology entrepreneurship and digital leadership.

“The event brought together the movers and shakers in the field of entrepreneurship from all over the world. I felt privileged to be in their company,” Munoz said. “The event was a unique learning experience and a truly memorable one.”
