July 16, 2023 – The Macon County Animal Control and Care Center held its open house this weekend for their “All American Pet Birthday Party.”
Shirley Stanley, Board Member of the Decatur and Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation, says the event is a celebration for every pet in the shelter and an opportunity to show off the facility to the public.
“We moved into this facility in 2006, but the previous facility was once rated as one of the worst in the nation. Thankfully the community came together to create this wonderful facility we have today. Now our program is rated one of the best!”
Attendees had a chance to win door prizes and bring “birthday gifts” for the shelter animals, such as toys, treats, and collars.
Stanley said that people still looking to adopt can take advantage of the shelter’s $50 special for the rest of July.
