July 17, 2023 – On July 19 at 11 a.m., the Macon County Emergency Management Agency will test its alert and notification system, which reaches all landline phones in the county and cellphones of registered residents.
The system can send messages to area residents during potentially life-threatening events as well as municipality-specific alerts regarding road closures, boil orders and severe weather updates. The test and future messages will be sent to all landline phones in the county as well as users who have enrolled their mobile phones in the program online. Residents who have not enrolled online will not receive mobile alerts.
Mobile alerts are delivered via text, phone call, email, TTY/TTD or using the Everbridge app, available on your device’s app store. The EMA encourages residents who have already signed up for these alerts to verify their contact information is correct. In the online portal, residents can customize the alerts they receive, including those from area villages and cities throughout the county.
To sign up for these alerts, click HERE and click the police car image on the right side of the page.
