July 20, 2023 – The City of Decatur says its Public Works crews have been all-hands-on-deck removing tree limbs and debris from public streets and rights-of-way since a severe storm ripped through Central Illinois on July 10.
The city is reminding residents that collection will conclude this week on Friday, July 21. Residents and private contractors should not place any more limbs or debris on the curb, except those conforming to normal yard waste pickup guidelines.
Crews will have successfully covered the entire City and will resume normal Public Works duties starting next week.
Disposal of downed trees and limbs on private property will again be the responsibility of the private property owner moving forward.
