July 25, 2023 – The Hospital Sisters Health System named its new Senior Vice President and Chief Physician Executive yesterday.

Kevin Lewis, MD, CPE, FAASM, will begin his new role on August 28, overseeing HSHS’ healthcare operations across Illinois and Wisconsin. Lewis is a pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine physician by training and has 15 years of practicing experience before shifting his career toward that of a healthcare executive. Most recently, he was based out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, serving as SSM Health Medical Group’s Regional Chief Clinical Officer and later Regional President and CEO.

“Dr. Lewis brings an ideal mix of health care leadership experience and passion for our mission,” Damond Boatwright, HSHS’ President and CEO, said in a press release. “He is a proven leader with a track record of success spanning two decades.”

Lewis is a graduate of Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, and the University of Texas Health Sciences Center, San Antonio. He completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Tulsa, and a pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine fellowship at the University of Kentucky. Lewis and his wife have three adult daughters.

“The depth and breadth of the mission at HSHS, as well as the extent to which leaders value their connection to the mission, really struck me,” Lewis said. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve in a ministry with such a rich, enduring legacy and an equally bright future.”
