July 25, 2023 – The Illinois State Fair, in cooperation with with the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, will welcome veterans and their families to enjoy a free day at the fair on Sunday, August 13.
Service-related events are scheduled throughout the day, beginning with a JROTC competition at 10 a.m., a veteran benefit expo from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., shows on the Lincoln Stage from 11:30 a.m.-2:45 p.m. and a parade down Grandstand Avenue at 4 p.m. Other events, programs, music and food aligning with the day’s theme—’No One Fights Alone’—will be available throughout the day, and the parade will be led by state officials, including the IDVA’s Assistant Director, veterans’ organizations and JROTC staff.
Veterans and their families should show any form of military identification for free admission, and parking is not included.
