Local changemakers to be honored August 2 at Community Foundation’s Do Something Great Awards

July 26, 2023 – The Community Foundation of Macon County will host the 19th Annual Do Something Great Awards presentation luncheon on Wednesday, August 2.  

The yearly program, comprised of seven different awards, honors individuals and organizations who make a positive impact in Macon County. This year’s awardees come from various walks of life and experiences but all commit to donating their time or resources to local organizations. 

The 2023 awardees are as follows: 

Award of Excellence in Inclusion: Rich Hansen, nominated by Evelyn Hood
Outstanding Young Philanthropist: Ken Parks and the Maroa-Forsyth National Honor Society, nominated by Joanie Keyes
Outstanding Volunteer/Board Member: Kay Nims, nominated by Rikki Parker
Outstanding Professional Partner: Nick Lane, nominated by The Community Foundation of Macon County
Outstanding Philanthropic Support to the Arts: Dina Fryman, nominated by Jerry Johnson and Penny Williams
The Ray Batman Nonprofit Professional of the Year: Gail Evans, nominated by Angel Lawrence
Robert and Bev Ketenbrink Community Commitment Award: Vinnie and Debra Barbee nominated by Brian Conerty

“This year’s Do Something Great honorees represent some of our community’s most generous individuals and organizations,” Natalie Beck, the Community Foundation’s President, said in a press release. “They are the trailblazers who go above and beyond for our community and have brought about real possibility, change and hope for Macon County.” 

All awardees and their guests will be honored at the presentation luncheon at Richland Community College.
