August 8, 2023 – For its third year, the Ripple Motor Show has two goals: to honor its namesake and impact local students.

Hosted annually by The Ripple Foundation, the car show aims to remember a local auto enthusiast, Chris Ripple, who died in a 2020 collision with a drunk driver. Chris’s son, Wade, created the Foundation to honor his father’s legacy, with the annual car show being its founding event. This year, the showcase has moved to Richland Community College to accommodate a larger slate of entries and to benefit its students through two donations.

Proceeds raised from the event are used to purchase and donate a van to “a Macon County family in need,” according to the Foundation’s website. This year, an RCC student facing transportation challenges will receive the van, which will be unveiled and donated at the show. Funds will also be donated to the Foundation’s CDR Tool Scholarship fund, which assists RCC students pursuing a career in the automotive industry.

All types of motorized vehicles are welcome to enter this year’s show, held this Saturday, August 12. Registration is $20 per vehicle, and registration begins at 11 a.m. with the show beginning at noon. Judging starts at 3 p.m., and the awards and van donation will take place at 4 p.m. Prizes will be given in eight categories—themed after Chris’s favorite food, pizza. The public is welcome to attend for free and enjoy the cars on site, taste food from local vendors, listen to live music and more.
