August 8, 2023 – Two foodie-favorite promotions will return to the State Fair this year.
“Small Plates, Big Tastes” and “Feeding Frenzy” have been added to the State Fair’s lineup of promotional deals for 2023. With foods for every tastebud—sweet to savory and beyond—available throughout the fair’s 11-day run, it could feel impossible to try everything without breaking the bank. These two deals will allow fairgoers to sample a wider variety of foods for a lower price.
Under the “Small Plates, Big Tastes” deal, foodies can get sample-sized portions from any Village of Cultures vendor for $3 throughout the fair. Illinois State Fair Manager Rebecca Clark said this new promotion will allow fairgoers to try as much as they’d like in the Village before purchasing a full dish.
“There are so many tasty options all around the fairgrounds, especially in the Village of Cultures, that we came up with a great way for fairgoers to travel around the world without breaking the bank,” Clark said in a press release. “The perfectly sized portions give folks a chance to sample foods they may have not tried otherwise, and if they fall in love with the dish, they can go back for the full-size portion!”
“Feeding Frenzy” will return for another year at the fair. Every weekday, the “Jaws” theme song will play over the fair’s loudspeakers, signaling the beginning of reduced prices on participating vendors’ selected menu items. When the music sounds—15 minutes before the discount window opens and 15 minutes before it closes—visitors can grab cuisines of all styles for happy-hour pricing from 2-5 p.m.
The Illinois State Fair runs from August 10 to August 20. For a full list of food vendors at this year’s fair, click HERE.
