August 14, 2023 – Theatre 7 is looking for adult and youth actors to audition for its upcoming production of A Christmas Story: The Musical.
Open auditions will be held for the classic movie-turned-musical from 6-8 p.m. on September 5 and 6 at Theatre 7’s facilities, located at 131 N. Water St. Actors aged eight and older should be prepared to do a cold reading of the script, a vocal audition and a brief dance segment. For the vocal portion, auditionees should bring an accompaniment track or sheet music for the accompanist to play, and all other materials will be taught at the audition.
Audition forms are available at Theatre 7 and available online HERE. Actors should bring the completed form with them to the audition, along with a calendar to provide a list of dates that conflict with rehearsals, which will be on weekdays from 6-8 p.m. starting in September. Minors will need a guardian to sign the form on their behalf.
The finished production will be performed at the Decatur Civic Center December 9-10 and 15-17. Theatre 7 is also currently looking for costume, backstage and set building volunteers. For more information, contact dectheatre7@gmail.com.
