Decatur Area Arts Council announces 2023-24 PASS program season

August 16, 2023 – If you, your child, or your grandchild took a school class field trip to Millikin University’s Kirkland Fine Arts Center to see a show, that was likely a PASS performance presented by the Decatur Area Arts Council.

The Decatur Area Arts Council has announced its Performing Arts Series for Students or “PASS” program season for the 2023-24 school year.

Designed to open doors to learning through the performing arts, approximately 5,000 area children attend these shows each year. All PASS performances are held at Kirkland. This program provides students with the opportunity to see a professional performance on a college campus, opening their young eyes to a wider world of possibilities.

The shows offered this season are:
The Velveteen Rabbit – Tues., October 17, 2023
The Frog Prince – Wed., February 15, 2024
Dreams and Fantasies: An Orchestral Adventure – Fri., February 23, 2024
The Jungle Book – Tues., March 5, 2024
Have You Filled a Bucket Today?: The Musical! – Tues., April 2, 2024

The Arts Council stated that area teachers and homeschool groups can reserve seats for the program(s) that best suit the needs of their classes. The first date reservations will be accepted is Thursday, September 7, beginning at 8 a.m. by calling 217-423-3189.

All shows are $5 per student except Dreams and Fantasies: An Orchestral Adventure, which is free.

The program is made possible through the Amherst F. Hardy Foundation, John Ullrich Foundation Trust, Kirkland Fine Arts Center, Illinois Arts Council Agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
