August 22, 2023 – The Early Bird Kiwanis Club of Decatur was recently recognized with the Distinguished Club Award from the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis International.
Only 20 clubs out of over 200 clubs in the district were awarded this distinction. To qualify for the honor, a club must show outstanding growth in membership, service to the community through hands-on projects, education of Club leadership and philanthropy to deserving organizations throughout the community.
In keeping with its mission of serving the children of the world, the Club recently presented cash contributions of $500 to Baby Talk, $400 to the Boy Scouts, $300 to CASA, $500 to the Dolly Parton Library, $500 to Macon Resources, $300 to God’s Shelter of Love, $500 to Good Samaritan Inn, $125 to the Children’s Fund of Kiwanis International, $600 to the Neuroscience Research project of Kiwanis International, $250 to Salvation Army, $300 to Shemilah Outreach Center and $500 to St. Jude’s.
