Aug 21, 2023 | 12:04 PM

August 21, 2023 – The Macon County Conservation District will soon unveil its plans for wetland restoration at Fort Daniel Conservation Area at an open house on Tuesday, August 29.

Starting at 5 p.m., nature enthusiasts and the public are invited to Rock Springs Conservation Area to see the proposed plans, provide feedback or input and ask any questions they may have. MCCD will restore Fort Daniel’s pothole prairie wetlands using the framework laid out by the plans. Prairie potholes are depressional circles of water where various species of aquatic plants grow. Many of these productive communities have been damaged or destroyed in recent years.
