August 23, 2023 – Applications are now open for the third cohort of Richland Community College’s free pre-apprenticeship program, which allows participants to transition to a Department of Labor-registered apprenticeship after completing the seven to eight-week set of courses.
The Illinois Works Pre-Apprenticeship Program collaborates with RCC’s EnRich program, which gives students hands-on experience in various fields while preparing them for a successful career. Students will be trained in the work of multiple trades, including carpentry, electric work, plumbing, bricklaying and more.
Participants will pay no registration fees and will receive a $12-per-hour stipend paid for each class hour spent. Upon completion, students will be first aid & CPR-certified, earn their OSHA-10 card and receive nationally recognized certificates of completion from the North America’s Building Trades Unions. Post-graduation, RCC will work with all students for up to one year to transition them to a federal apprenticeship.
Classes begin on Monday, September 25 and run Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Only 16 spots are available in the cohort, and applicants must fill out an interest form HERE.
