August 23, 2023 – Michelle Mitchell and Susie Niesman of the Decatur Federation of Teaching Assistants joined Byers & Co. to talk about their ongoing labor dispute with DPS61. The union has been in negotiations with the board since April, and their previous contract expired over the summer. Now, the union, which represents more than 300 teaching assistants across the district, has requested a federal mediator to ensure progress at the bargaining table.
