August 28, 2023 – Mid-Summer Moon Productions is bringing Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka to the Decatur Civic Center stage with a golden ticket contest. The cast and crew are hiding golden tickets throughout Decatur and the surrounding communities to give lucky community members a chance to attend the show for no admission fee.
Performances for Willy Wonka will be on September 15 at 7 p.m., September 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and September 17 at 2 p.m. The Saturday matinee will include a special “talkback” with the cast and an opportunity to interact with the set.
Willy Wonka is a timeless classic that tells the story of the famous chocolatier, Willy Wonka, who is trying to find his heir to the chocolate factory. He plans a contest, and four very bratty children and a humble Charlie Bucket find the golden tickets, allowing them to meet Wonka and tour the factory. It’s a wonderful trip into the imagination.
The show is based on the book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl, adapted by Leslie Bricusse and Timothy Allen McDonald for the stage. Music and Lyrics are by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley. The show features familiar songs such as The Candy Man, Pure Imagination, and Oompa Loompa.
Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available online HERE or at the door the day of the show. All tickets are general admission.
