“Decatur Audubon feels that getting children out in nature or introducing them to nature topics by bringing presentations into the classroom is extremely important right now,” says Connie Requarth, President of the Decatur Audubon Society. “Decatur Audubon is very pleased to assist in that effort.”
“An exciting new change this year is the inclusion of more area schools, thanks to Decatur Audubon’s expanding territory,” says Alysia Callison, Director of Program Services. “We hope this will allow us to connect with even more children throughout the area.”
The Decatur Area Audubon Society has been providing the grants since 2017. For the 2022-2023 school year, 17 buses were funded, allowing almost 800 children to attend educational programs at District sites.
